SSAFA - Lifelong support for our forces and their families. Visit the main SSAFA website. At the outbreak of World War One, the Government called on SSAFA to take care of the families of soldiers going to the Front. Our digitised records from 1914 tell a unique story about life on the Home Front. Supporting families on the Home Front. Back then, we believed that one of the best ways of supporting our Forces was by looking after their families. We still believe this today.

Bringing military women closer together through singing. The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir formed in September 2012 as a result of the outstanding success of the original Military Wives Choirs from Chivenor and Plymouth, made famous through the BBC TV programme with Gareth Malone. The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir now has over 50 members who meet weekly in Ilchester to have fun, rehearse together and provide mutual support as they deal with the challenges of Service life.
